Dr. Ron Chay is a native Staten Islander.  He attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine.  He received his M.D. in 2000 with honors, elected Iota Epsilon Alpha.  He completed his internal medicine residency including chief medical resident at Stony Brook University School of Medicine.  He completed nephrology training as a chief fellow in 2006, also at Stony Brook University Hospital.

In 2003, Dr. Chay was board certified in Internal Medicine and in 2006, he was board certified in Nephrology.  Dr. Chay also became one of only 1243 U.S. physicians to be designated a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension.  Dr. Chay has published several abstracts in the American Journal of Kidney Disease, Journal of American Society of Nephrology and the American Journal of Transplantation.  Topics included hyperparathyroidism following renal transplantation and steroid sparing renal transplant outcomes. 

Dr. Chay also practiced hospital medicine at Staten Island University Hospital and was a clinical instructor at SUNY Downstate Department of Medicine. In 2009 he was proud to open the private practice of Kidney and Hypertension Medicine, P.C.  He is an attending physician at Staten Island University Hospital and Richmond University Medical Center.  He is currently an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and Richmond County Medical Society.
